Description:

This Slow Cooker Pepper Steak recipe gives you super tender beef in a rich, thick sauce made with a delicious mix of ginger, soy sauce, and honey. For added flavor, this recipe includes Jake & Amos Sweet & Hot Pepper Strips, to add a flavorful and slightly spicy profile to this dish. Serve over white rice and garnish with spring onion.

Ingredients:

1 jar (16 ounces) of Jake & Amos Sweet & Hot Pepper Strips, drained

1 can (15 ounces) can of fire-roasted diced tomatoes, left in their juices

3 pounds sirloin steak, cut into 3/4 inch thick slices

8 ounces mushrooms of your choice, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 large white onion, sliced

1 1/2 cups beef broth, divided

1/2 cup soy sauce

3 tablespoons light brown sugar

2 tablespoons honey

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

2 teaspoons granulated garlic

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

3 tablespoons cornstarch

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Directions:
  1. Whisk 1 cup of the beef broth with the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, salt, pepper, ginger, and garlic together in a medium mixing bowl and set aside.

  2. Add the steak, green and red peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onion to the slow cooker.

  3. Pour the sauce into the slow cooker and stir until combined.

  4. Cover slow cooker with lid and cook on high for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes.

  5. Whisk the cornstarch and remaining 1/2 cup of beef broth together in a small bowl. Pour into the slow cooker and stir until combined.

  6. Add the Jake & Amos Sweet & Hot Pepper Strips to slow cooker, cover, and let it cook for another 3 hours or until the sauce has thickened and the beef is tender.

  7. Serve over rice and garnish with green onions.
